8.30 AM – 9.30 AM: Pick Up
Our journey begins by picking you up from Keauhou, Kailua-Kona, Waikoloa and Hapuna Hotel.
Drive over the newly built Saddle Road which is a monumental construction feat with Mount Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on each side of the drive.
After coming over you will be treated to the awsome sites of the Richardson Blacksand Beach. A beautiful beach in the Hilo covered in soft, black sand and occasionally visited by our local turtles!
2 PM – 2.30 PM: Meals
Our drive goes through the Historic Banyan Drive and Queen Liliuokalani Gardens. The Banyan drive is filled with Banyan trees which bear the names of famous people who planted them throughout history. Famous names such as President Theodore Roosevelt, Babe Ruth, Richard Nixon. Similarly, the Queen Liliuokalani Gardens is a beautiful destination filled with the history of our Islands.
2.30 PM – 4.30 PM: Surfing
We finish the forest part of our tour at the beautiful Gardens by exploring the beautiful Rainbow Falls State Park, known for its beautiful view of the Island and never ending rainbows.
4.30 PM – 5.30 PM: Surfing
For a small break, we take you on a delicious tour of our Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory where we see how to harvest and grow the nuts and also get to taste the Island’s wonderful, tasty culture! Goto the sampling section of the factory, just ask for the ones you wish to taste or ask to taste all of them.
5.30 PM – 6.30 PM: Return
The Island of Hawaii not only sells our precious macadamia nuts but also beautiful orchids. Hilo is the orchid capital of the world and you will see over 200 different types of orchids with various shapes, scents, and striking colors.
5.30 PM – 6.30 PM: Return
We experience the center of Hawaii’s culture, lifestyle, and connection with the Island. The Volcanoes National Park, established in 1916 encompasses two active volcanoes: Kīlauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. This experience includes the Thurston Lava Tube approximately 10 minutes or 1/3 mile walk thru the lush jungle and lava tube. Also, ground water seeps down to the hot volcanic rocks in this area and returns to the surface as steam creating incredible steam vents. While standing at the Steam Vents, take a good look around. The area between the caldera’s edge and outer cliffs of Kīlauea Caldera is a treeless plain.
5.30 PM – 6.30 PM: Return
Finally, the Thomas A. Jaggar Museum has a worldwide reputation as a leader in the study of active volcanism which is located at the site.
5.30 PM – 6.30 PM: Return
Finally, we stay and watch the sun go down to see the true beauty and life of Kīlauea. As light of twilight fades, the roaring fire and lava of Kīlauea lights up the crater. This experience is the heart of our culture, history, and show cases the beauty and power of Kīlauea.
